N2  - This paper describes the history of photography and motion picture and discloses it’s origins in the camera obscura. Chemical processes will be explained coherent and differences as well as parallels to other forms of expressional arts will be shown. Furthermore this work discusses the importance of film in Germany from the early 20th century during the Weimarer Republik until the fall of the Berlin Wall in the late 1980s. 
Last but not least, there will be a short section about modern film production with regard of computer generated images and the importance of the internet and why it looms large in view of film distribution.
