Wintertourismus in den Alpen : Entwicklung, Trends und Klimawandeldargestellt an der Tourismusgemeinde Lenggries

Wintertourism in the alps : development, trends and global warmingincluding a casestudy of the touristic destination Lenggries

  • Since many years, winter tourism plays an important role in the Alps. However it is very sensitive to global warming, and recent climate trends seem to negatively impact many ski resorts. The following bachelor thesis discusses the historical development of tourism in the Alps, as well as recent trends in winter tourism. Furthermore, climate change and its impact on winter tourism are analyzed. However, this study does not only restrict itself on the negative consequences, but also presents strategies of adaptions in alpine destinations to become more independent from winter sports. The case study of Lenggries shall underline the negative impact of climate change on a traditional ski resort. By referencing to an empirical data collection in form of expert interviews, existing adaption strategies in Lenggries will be evaluated and moreover, potential enhancements will be discussed.
