• Das Projekt „Flächennutzung optimieren – Neubaudruck mindern (OptiWohn)“ untersucht kommunale Handlungsmöglichkeiten, um in wachsenden Städten dem Wohnraumbedarf nicht (nur) mit Neubau, sondern vor allem im Bestand zu begegnen. Denn auch in den beteiligten Projektstädten Göttingen, Köln und Tübingen finden sich leerstehende oder mindergenutzte Gebäude und Wohnungen. Im Rahmen einer Online-Umfrage haben rund 2.500 Teilnehmende auf Fragen zu ihrer Wohnsituation und der wahrgenommenen Wohnqualität geantwortet. Trotz recht überwiegender Zufriedenheit zeigt die Auswertung eine weit verbreitete Bereitschaft auf Seiten der Wohnenden, weniger Wohnraum in Anspruch zu nehmen. Der Beitrag stellt ausgewählte Ergebnisse und mögliche Handlungsoptionen vor, um das Potenzial einer optimierten Wohnflächennutzung zu erschließen.
• The project „Optimizing the use of living space – reducing the pressure to build new buildings (OptiWohn)“ examines municipal options for action to meet the demand for housing in growing cities not (only) with new construction, but with an optimized use of the existing building stock. Vacant or under-used buildings and apartments can also be found in the participating project cities of Göttingen, Cologne and Tübingen. In a survey, about 2,500 participants answered questions about their housing situation and perceived quality of living. Despite a rather high satisfaction the evaluation shows a broad willingness of the residents to take up less living space. The article outlines some of the most important findings and points out possible courses of action to unlock this potential for an optimized use of living space.
