Manual and automatic annotation of anatomical and anthropological landmarks and measuring points using the example of mandibles of male soldiers of the Napoleonic army
- The aim of this work is the manuel and automatic annotation of anatomical and anthropological landmarks and measurement points using the example of mandibulae of male soldiers of the Napoleonic army. The mandibles are from the Rödelheim skeletal collection. They were digitised by using photogrammetry and annotated with regard to anatomical and osteometric landmarks using the AnthroWorks3D software. The aim is to automate the setting of the osteometric landmarks, which were realised by means of a template. The goal is to research which mandible is the “most average“ and how efficent the automation process is compared to manuel annotation. Statistical analyses were used to give an overview of meaningful parameters within the sample. Researches of the anatomical skeletal variants are to assess their influence on AnthroWork3D.
