Mobile Commerce : how can an increase in B2C sales within the Mobile Channel be achieved?

  • This master thesis deals with the topic of mobile commerce and how to increase the number of purchases in this area. This thesis aims to analyse current user behaviour in the mobile sector on the basis of scientific theories and an empirical online survey, so that recommendations for action and strategies to increase mobile B2C sales can be deduced. In the theoretical part of the thesis an overview of the status quo and the development of mobile commerce is given, as well as technical basics and theoretical reference frameworks are explained. The assumptions of the theoretical foundations were examined in hypotheses on mobile commerce and largely verified. Major risks for the mobile sector are behavioural patterns from Prospect Theory and Mental Accounting. Opportunities lie in the Theory of Reasoned Action and the Technology Acceptance Model. In order to increase the number of purchases, mobile Internet presences must above all be comprehensive and convenient.
