• The given bachelor thesis deals with the issue of premier handball being vastly overlooked by the media, whereas the fourth division of German football draws major attention and interest in society. The main target is to give a close-up on the reasons why this is the case and to work out a comparison between both sports to show why fourth division football is more likely to function in the media. The tools to proof these assumptions are upon others the stairs of mediatization developed by Dohle and Vowe. Furthermore, there will be an empiric analysis of numerous interviews given by experts of football and handball. The focus of the analysis is to draw a vision from within each sport to give a complex conclusion. During the course of writing the main arguments concerning the thesis are the lack of outstanding characters in handball who the media estimates as worth exploiting commercially. Moreover, football is nation-wide seen as an event of entertainment while this is not yet the case with handball. Also the set of rules in football is in general easier developed in comparison to handball.
