• The thesis at hand focuses on analyzing the legal basis of and reasons for cease-and-desist warnings against online journalists and bloggers. Answering the question on how the legal bases of warnings can be interpreted and which methods for minimizing the risk of warnings can be used is the main goal of this thesis. By applying the methods of analysis of basic laws as well as evaluation of current literature a broader context of the reasons can be deduced. Debating on the general purpose of warnings and explaining the legal basis and the reasons for warnings in a readily understandable way is one of the goals of the study. Deducing recommendations for action from the previous findings has been given priority in this thesis. The study comes to the conclusion that online journalists and bloggers are especially at risk of cease-and-desist warnings in the field of copyright law as well as in the field of general right of personality.
