Mechanische Eigenschaften von superharten Kohlenstoffschichten (ta-C)

  • For investigation of mechanical properties tetrahedral amorphous carbon coatings were prepared by pulsed Laser deposition using different parameters. The concentration of particulates embedded in the coatings was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy and digital image processing. The mechanical properties namely friction coefficient, wear rate, adhesive strength, internal stress, hardness and Young’s modulus were investigated in dependence of deposition parameters and particulate concentration. Internal stress developing in different layer systems was calculated and compared with the measurements. For comparison the friction coefficient and wear rate of microstructured ta-C films were measured and the influence of graphite lubrication on friction and wear was investigated.
