• The author examines the conditions of the production and distribution of music in the semi-professional sector. The data is based on a survey made in the music scene in the town of Dresden/Germany. The paper shows where and how music is produced, how high the quantities of physical sound-storage media are and how and where these are sold. The results create a diverse picture of a diverse music scene and enable the semi-professional musician to find and solve problems within the given field.
