• Die Figur des Clowns wurde speziell im Bereich der audiovisuellen Medien mehr und mehr von dem Genre Horror eingenommen. Wie die Wandlung eines komödiantischen Charakters zu einem Symbol des Schreckens geschichtlich, psychologisch und medial begünstigt wurde, wird in der folgenden Arbeit erörtert werden. Zudem wird analysiert, welche Rolle der Clown seit Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert in Film und Fernsehen, speziell im Horrorgenre, einnahm.
• The figure of the clown has been taken over more and more by the genre of horror, especially in the field of audiovisual media. How the transformation of a comedic character into a symbol of horror was favoured historically, psychologically and medially will be discussed in the following paper. In addition, it will be analysed what role the clown has taken on in film and television, especially in the horror genre, since the beginning of the 20th century.
